Transitions My Glasses Guide

In some cases it's simply not possible to get good vision by using glasses or contact lenses. This is described as having "Low Vision", which may be due to eye disease or injury, or just simply natural ageing.

However, in many cases people with low vision can still read, sew, use computers and perform other tasks by using an appropriate magnification or lighting aid. Because every case is different, choosing the right magnifier is important - "over the counter" magnifiers usually aren't good enough. Optomeyes optometrists have access to precision magnifiers covering a wide range of powers - just talk to your optometrist, and they can arrange a special time to try some magnifiers to see which is right for your situation. Alternatively, if they feel it is appropriate they can arrange referral to the local Low Vision Clinic for specialist low vision care.
